Community Groups

Community Groups are small groups of couples or individuals that meet weekly to build friendships, study God's truth, and support each other through prayer. Community Groups are for adults of all ages, stages of life, and spiritual maturity. Community Groups meet weekly in homes from September to May.

If you want to grow in your relationship with Jesus, you need to have intentional relationships with people who have the same goal—and Community Group is the ideal place for that. In a Community Group, eight to twelve adults in the same stage of life and area of town meet regularly for a year or more to pursue spiritual growth and healthy relationships. You’ll be encouraged to live out the truths you discover in the Bible, as you encourage others to do the same.  Our Community Groups do not meet during the summer months.

Group Link

To join a Community Group, come to GroupLink (date for the next group link is coming soon), a 90 minute event where you can meet people in a similar stage of life and area of town with the goal of forming a Community Group. A host and plenty of staff members and volunteers will be on hand to navigate you through the process of meeting others and forming a group. We host GroupLink twice a year.

Would You Consider Leading a Group?

Facilitating a group is not difficult but it does require that you be faithful and consistent for your group to be successful.  If you would like to start a group, plan on attending our next Group Leader Training. This email address is being protected from spambots. Experiencing Community at FBC

The desire for community is everywhere in all cultures because it is embedded into how we've been created. From the local coffee shop, to social networking sites, country clubs or sports, we all have an innate desire to belong. The question is not, "Will we engage in community?" Instead we ask, "What type of community will we engage in?" Our desire is that everyone would find a small group of people to do life with, so that you would know and be known and love and be loved.

Community at FBC can be experienced in a variety of ways. Among other means, it can be pursued through Community Groups, Access Groups Recovery groups and Bible studies.  Practically it doesn't make sense for everyone at FBC to experience community on Sunday morning, so we encourage most of our groups to meet during the week in homes.

Types of Groups are Offered

Most Community Groups are for adults of all ages, stages of life, and spiritual maturity.  Some different types of Life Groups are:

Multi-generational Groups: These groups are a blend of young and old, married and single — a beautiful picture of extended family where everyone's unique life stage and experience strengthen the group.

Married Couples Groups: We understand the importance of ministering to married couples. Marriage was designed by God to represent Christ's union with His Church.

Recovery Groups: Recovery groups are designed to promote hope and healing for anyone seeking a new direction in life.  Each Recovery Group is coordinated by our Care Ministry and meet on Tuesday evenings.  You can find a more extensive listing of current Recovery Groups at The FBC 411

Men’s Groups: We're encouraging guys to participate in Men's Fraternity: Authentic Manhood: Winning at Work & Home. Check out our current list of groups at The FBC 411

Women's Bible Study Groups:   FBC Women's Ministry offers a variety of groups to help you connect with God's heart, your own heart and with others' hearts. Check out our current list of groups at The FBC 411.

College Groups: We believe college students are not merely future leaders but are integral members of FBC.   We network with the collegiate ministries at UCM to plug students into small groups.

Mom’s Like Me: If you are the mother of preschool children you need a break and an opportunity to spend time with other adult women!  It’s a great time to compare life notes, learn more about parenting and be rejuvenated!    The ladies meet two Wednesdays a month from 9:00-11 AM in the Apex.

Sunday Morning Classes: We have a variety of Bible Study classes that meet through out the year at 9:15 and 10:30 AM. You can get a list of our current classes on the 411 Wall in our Lobby or at the Information Kiosk.
